1. AUP Overview
As a provider of website hosting and other internet-related services, OULU CLOUD enables customers and their users to access and distribute public, private, commercial and non-commercial information. The internet is open, but that openness does not permit abusive or unlimited misuse of network resources.
To protect customers, the network, operational stability, platform reputation and third-party rights, OULU CLOUD issues this Acceptable Use Policy as a supplement to its service agreements. This AUP may be updated from time to time based on operational, regulatory and security requirements.
Users are fully responsible for the content they publish, store, transmit or provide. OULU CLOUD does not guarantee the legality or appropriateness of all internet content, but it may take immediate corrective action when violations are identified.
2. Spam and Open Relays
You may not send unsolicited bulk messages or commercial communications over the internet, including spam, bulk marketing email or malicious mass messaging. Such activity creates complaints, network load and service impact for other customers.
- Open SMTP relays and abusive mail relaying are prohibited.
- OuluCloud may immediately investigate complaints and suspend or close related accounts.
- Violations may incur a $250 charge, and OuluCloud reserves the right to pursue additional remedies.
- If OuluCloud chooses to litigate, damages may be assessed at $1 per email.
3. IRC and Service Abuse
IRC use may only be tolerated where it does not interrupt other customers, abuse platform resources or affect network stability. If IRC or similar workloads cause abuse, abnormal consumption, complaints or impact to other users, OULU CLOUD may suspend or terminate the related service.
4. Adult and Obscene Content
OULU CLOUD does not permit adult content, obscene material, child sexual abuse material or related illegal content. You may not advertise, transmit, store, post, display or otherwise provide such material through the platform.
- Accounts involved in such content may be suspended or terminated immediately.
- Where child sexual abuse material is involved, OULU CLOUD may notify law enforcement and cooperate fully.
- The user bears all costs, claims and losses arising from investigations, enforcement or complaints related to prohibited content.
5. Proxy Software and Circumvention
Proxy-oriented programs and services are prohibited. This includes using cloud servers for proxy forwarding, anonymous access, circumvention, public proxy services or similar purposes.
- Public proxies, relay nodes, tunnels, anonymity tools and similar services may not be deployed.
- You may not build proxy systems intended to evade regulation or operate large-scale transit networks.
- Violating accounts may be suspended or terminated without compensation.
6. Telecom and Online Fraud
OuluCloud services may not be used for telecom fraud, online scams, phishing, money laundering, pyramid schemes, fake payment activity, fake customer support or impersonation of organizations or institutions.
Once identified, the platform may immediately suspend service and report or cooperate with the relevant authorities as required by law.
7. Torrents, Mirroring and Download Tools
All torrent activity is prohibited, including so-called legitimate torrent services. This restriction also covers torrent trackers, bulk crawling, URL downloaders, website mirroring, file mirroring and similar high-consumption copy tools.
- You may not host torrent sites, trackers or related distribution services.
- You may not deploy tools primarily intended for high-consumption mirroring, bulk crawling or site copying.
- OuluCloud may charge a $100 research or cleanup fee when related violations are found.
8. Forged Headers and Identity Masking
You may not forge, alter or misrepresent email headers, request sources, identity markers, access logs, site origin or message origin in order to hide the real sender or source of activity.
Any technical attempt to conceal origin, evade complaints, mislead recipients or bypass review may be treated as a violation of this AUP.
9. Unauthorized Access, Scanning and Attacks
You may not illegally or without authorization access another person's computer, account, network or service, and you may not attempt to bypass another system's security measures.
- Port scanning, stealth scanning, information gathering, vulnerability probing, brute-force attempts and similar precursor behavior are prohibited.
- Viruses, worms, trojans, ping floods, mail bombs, denial-of-service attacks and similar destructive techniques may not be used or distributed.
- You may not engage in conduct that disrupts another person's use of networks, systems, services or equipment.
- OULU CLOUD may restrict, suspend or terminate related services without prior notice.
10. Enabling Violations and Other Illegal Activity
You may not advertise, distribute, sell or otherwise provide any software, program, product or service intended to violate this AUP, including spam tools, attack scripts, denial-of-service tools, malware, pirated software, fraudulent credit card tools, Ponzi schemes or MLM-related services.
OULU CLOUD also reserves the right to reject content, connections or distribution requests originating from known AUP-violating sources, such as abusive newsgroups or similar channels.
11. Law Enforcement and Disclosure
When OULU CLOUD identifies harmful activity, it may remove information, shut down websites, block transmission, deny access, restrict network use or take any other action it considers appropriate. OULU CLOUD may act directly against a user's downstream customers when necessary, or against the main user due to downstream abuse.
- Users who provide internet services to others must cooperate with OuluCloud in corrective and preventive action. Failure to cooperate is itself a violation.
- OuluCloud does not intentionally monitor private communications as a routine practice, but it may process related information when required for security, public safety or legal compliance.
- OuluCloud may disclose user, transmission or site information in response to court orders, subpoenas, authorizations, regulations or government requests.
- OuluCloud may disclose information when necessary to protect itself or third parties from harm or to preserve normal system operation.
- OuluCloud does not sell user information to other services or outside companies.
12. Indemnity and Policy Updates
If a user violates a service agreement, applicable law or this AUP and causes OULU CLOUD to suffer loss, face a third-party claim, become the subject of litigation or face regulatory investigation, the user must bear the related damage, cost and reasonable legal fees.
If OuluCloud becomes the target of claims, complaints, penalties or lawsuits because of the conduct of the user or the user's downstream customers, the user is responsible for the resulting indemnity.
OULU CLOUD reserves the right to modify this AUP, adjust account plans and update pricing without individual notice. Users should check this page regularly, and continued use of the service means acceptance of the updated AUP.
